In Maine, state overtime laws dictate that all non-exempt employees who work more than a 40-hour work week must be paid 1.5 times their normal hourly rate (“time-and-a-half”) for every hour of overtime they work. The current minimum wage for workers in Maine is $7.50 an hour, which means that the minimum rate of pay for overtime hours is $11.25 per hour. The nationally respected employment lawyers at Phillips Dayes Law Firm understand that the complexity of Maine overtime laws can make them difficult for the average employee to understand. It is our goal to help the workers of Maine protect their right to fair pay by providing this overview of Maine state overtime laws.
